Volunteer FAQ

 

Q: I signed up to volunteer, but I lost my username or password. What do I do and how do I get this information?

A: Please email the volunteer coordinator at karen@globalgolfmanagement.com with your name and explain that you lost your username and password.

 

Q: How many days do I have to volunteer and for how many hours?

A: Each volunteer is asked to complete a minimum of 3 shifts* or 18 hours to receive golf voucher.

  • 1 shift is considered complete after 6 hours are worked (Shift Lengths vary by committee. Shift begins when volunteer is in position to fulfill their duties, not when they are on shuttle or waiting in volunteer tent prior to start of shift.)

 

Q: Can my children volunteer? Is there an age requirement?

A: Yes, children ages 15 years old to 18 years old can be a junior volunteer. Junior volunteers may work as Standard Bearers. Subject to availability

 

Q: What does the volunteer fee cover?

A: The Volunteer Fee is $60 and will help cover the cost of your volunteer package, which includes the following:

  • One (1) Tournament Logo’d Golf Shirt
  • One (1) Tournament Logo’d Outwear Piece
  • One (1) piece of Headwear (cap)
  • One (1) Tournament lanyard w/ Credential
  • Meal(s) provided for each shift worked
  • Six (6) complimentary Good Any Day tickets, which provide access to Tournament grounds
  • One (1) commemorative gift
  • One (1) round of golf per volunteer at Las Colinas Country Club (cart fee will apply)

Please remember, volunteers must wear their own khaki pants or slacks. Volunteers will be walking a lot, and are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes or sneakers. Soft spike golf shoes are also acceptable.

 

Q: If I am no longer able to volunteer, can I receive a refund?

A: Yes, but only  if you cancel before March 1, 2015. Please contact the Tournament Office to request a refund.

 

Q: Can I be scheduled (shift assignments) at the same time as my spouse, friend, etc.?

A: We will make every effort to accommodate your scheduling requests but cannot guarantee the same schedule. Make sure to list your request when you register and remind your chairperson once they contact you. if your spouse or friend is in a different committee please make sure they speak with their chairperson as well.

 

Q: How do I know / when will I receive my schedule?

A: Since you registered online, your committee chair will also post your schedule online to your volunteer profile. Committee Chairmen will begin their schedules once a majority of their committee is full and will begin posting schedules by April 1st. Some committees may post before then so if you have a change in your availability make sure to let your Chairmen know as soon as possible. All schedules are subject to change so make sure you continue to check your schedule online.

 

Q: When will the uniforms be distributed?

A: Uniforms will be distributed Saturday April 18 & 19, 2015 during volunteer training days at Las Colinas Country Club. Your Committee Chairperson will contact you with the details.  Or please contact karen@globalgolfmanagement.com if you have any questions.

 

Q: What do I do if my uniform does not fit?

A: We will offer uniform exchanges prior to beginning of each shift based on availability. We order uniforms based off what you order so we will not have many extras to exchange. Uniforms are from Antigua and should fit true to size – but if you are worried yours may be to big or small then we suggest ordering a size up or down. if you have already registered and want to change your size please contact Karen prior to March 1st.

 

Q: Where do I park?

A: Volunteers will have complimentary parking at the following address: 3400 North Walton Walker Blvd, Irving, TX 75062, off of Loop 12 service road to the right (follow signs).  This is the old Cowboys stadium.  Please show volunteer credential to parking attendant.

 

 

Q: Can I watch golf when I am not working?

A: Yes, your credential is valid for the entire week and we encourage you to do so. On days that you are working as a volunteer, before or after your shift, you are welcome to watch golf as a spectator. On days that you are not working as a volunteer, please do not wear your uniform.

 

Q: What should I bring when I come for my shift?

A: Depending on your assignment you may want to bring a camping-like folding seat and appropriate weather wear. Keep an eye on the weather and bring an umbrella or jacket if you’ll need it. Be sure to bring a wide brimmed hat and plenty of sunscreen if you are working out on the course!

 

Q: Can I bring my camera and phone?

A: Cameras are only allowed during Monday – Wednesday for all volunteer and spectators. Yes, you can bring a phone, but please make sure to keep the ringer on “silent”. No photos or video may be taken with your phone starting on Thursday. Anyone seen taking pictures or video will be asked to leave. As a volunteer we ask that you set a good example for the spectators and not be on your phone while on duty.

 

Q: Can I ask for autographs?

A: Please try to refrain from asking players for autographs when you are working as a volunteer. If you are not working and not in uniform you may get autographs, do not interrupt the player’s round though. You will not be permitted to volunteer if you have autographs on any part of your uniform.
